Cotton Prices Might Be the New Tailwind

If you want volatility, all you have to do is look at the cotton trade. In the last week, it has shed 36 percent. Despite that, cotton is still up more than 37 percent in the last year.

Shares of Hanesbrands ([[HBI]] -8.2%) fall after the company confirmed its full-year 2011 diluted EPS guidance of $2.70-$2.90, and says it sees pressure on margins from cotton prices and potential wage hikes in Central America, China and Vietnam. A planned price increase to dampen those costs may reduce sales, analysts say.
